Volunteer Jobs
Setup: At the pool at 6:30. Set up lane lines, Easyups, chairs, tables, ready bench sound system, etc.
Swimmer Check In: At the pool at 7:30 to check in swimmers and write
events on their arm with a sharpie.
Snack Bar: Includes: setup, food prep, selling, cooking, cleanup, etc.
Judges: Officiates the event. Requires 1‐day ISL training.
Announcers: Uses a PA system to announce races, call volunteers to duty
and promote the snack bar.
Ready Bench: Organizes the swimmers into heats and lanes for each race.
Lane Timers: Times the swimmer in a lane.
Lane Writers: Times the race and then records the times.
Lane Runners: Runs the cards from one end of the pool to the other forthe races that are only one length. A good job for newbies.
Card Runners: Collects the cards from the Lane Writers. Delivers thecards to the score keeper. Lots of walking with a great view of the race.
Card Sorter: Sorts the time cards by time, judges decisions, assigns places.
Computer Entry: Enters the times for each swimmer into the computer.
Ribbon Writer: Prepares the ribbons for each swimmer.
Ribbon Sorter: Sorts the ribbons alphabetically by swimmer for
distribution.
Cleanup: Takes down the Easyups, chairs, tables, lane lines, sound system,
snack bar and puts it all away neatly, so that we’ll know where everything
is the next week.
Shoppers: Buy food and supplies for the next week’s event.
Substitute: Does any of the above in the event of flakiness by another
volunteer.
